SULPHUR SPRINGS -- Jake Clemons threw a season-high four touchdown passes and the Whitehouse defense forced five turnovers as the Wildcats defeated the Sulphur Springs Wildcats, 49-31, Friday night in non-district action at Gerald Prim Stadium.

Clemons thew a pair of touchdowns to receiver Fiver Trimble, who finished with five catches and 97 yards. Zach Parker caught five passes for 61 yards and a touchdown, and added a 70-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the game.

Justin Lively and K.J. McDade also caught touchdown passes, and Khyree Kee ran for another score.

Sulphur Springs cut the Whitehouse lead to 21-17 after Whitehouse punter Eddie Godina had a snap sail over his head and Austin Dodd picked up the ball and ran it in from 8 yards out with 4:30 remaining in the first half. Sulphur Springs forced a punt and had another late possession, but fumbled it away on a snap over quarterback Ryan Humphries' head. Whitehouse parlayed the miscue into another score -- Key's run from 2 yards out -- for a 28-17 halftime lead.

Sulphur Springs fumbled on its opening possession of the second half and never challenged Whitehouse afterward as Whitehouse went on to score 14 unanswered points.

Humphries threw three interceptions to go with a pair of touchdowns, one to Simeon Taylor and another to Landry Tyson on the last play of the game. Taylor led all receivers with eight catches for 135 yards.

Whitehouse improved to 3-1 and plays host to Kennedale in the non-district finale next Friday. Sulphur Springs fell to 1-3 and opens district play next Friday in Longview against the Pine Tree Pirates.
