ROCKWALL -- Longview's offense barely broke a sweat Friday night. The Lobos used their special teams and defense to make all the difference.

JaMycal Hasty rushed for three touchdowns, Travin Howard returned a punt for another touchdown and Longview dominated Rockwall-Heath 42-10 at Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium.

Longview (5-1, 2-0 in District 12-5A) ran just 36 plays on the night, but that didn't matter. A backfield that featured nine different ball carriers rolled up 232 of the Lobos' 344 total yards.

The Lobos opened up a 21-0 lead in the first quarter despite running just seven plays from scrimmage for 37 yards.

A bad snap over the head of Rockwall-Heath's punter on the Hawks' opening possession resulted in Longview taking over at the Heath (4-3, 0-3) 15-yard line. Hasty's 1-yard touchdown run on fourth-and-goal put Longview up 7-0.

On Heath's ensuing possession, another bad snap over the punter's head resulted in an incomplete pass on fourth down, which again gave the Lobos excellent field position at the Hawks 32. Dezmond Chumley connected with Chris Pellum for a 31-yard pass to the 1 on the first play and Hasty took it on the next play for a 14-0 Longview lead.

Special teams loomed large at the end of Heath's following drive as Howard fielded a punt at his own 19 and weaved his way in and out of traffic for an 81-yard touchdown and a 21-0 lead Lobos lead with 1:03 remaining in the opening quarter.

Hasty, who played sparingly in the second half, finished with 67 yards -- the majority of which came on his impressive 45-yard touchdown run when he bounced to the right and cut back across the field to give the Lobos a 28-3 lead in the second quarter.

Chumley finished 5-of-8 for 112 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown to Pellum for a 35-3 third-quarter lead. Pellum had three receptions for 102 yards. Fullback Marquies Hunter took a dive play 38 yards to the end zone in the fourth quarter to put a wrap on Longview's scoring.

Heath wasn't able to do much offensively. Already playing without starting quarterback Jordan Hoy, backup Ryne Randle was knocked out late in the first half after being sacked by Longview defensive tackle Zaycoven Henderson. It was one of three sacks on the night for the Lobos -- Decord Flanagan and Trey Lanier had the other two.

R.J. Williams, normally a wide receiver, replaced Randle and finished 8-of-15 for 133 yards and an 89-yard touchdown to Jake Fisher in the fourth quarter. Williams also had six catches for 47 yards.

Longview is back in action next Friday night at home against Mesquite Horn.
