MARSHALL -- Junior tailback JaMycal Hasty ran 24 times for a career-high 253 yards and two touchdowns to lead Longview to a 26-14 win Friday at rival Marshall in the teams' 103rd meeting.

Longview won its 13th consecutive game against Marshall to take a 57-41-5 all-time advantage in the series.

Longview's 332 rushing yards combined with a Lobo defense that held Marshall (0-2) to 236 total yards. Those efforts helped the Lobos overcome two lost fumbles and a slew of first-half mistakes that allowed the Mavs to hang around for most of the game.

Longview missed two field goals and had two long touchdowns negated by penalties in the first half. Marshall's Jacque Kuykendall and Mitchell Leonard each ran for a touchdown.

Safety Laurent Johnson led Longview with 12 tackles and an interception, while defensive lineman DeRodrick Alexander had five tackles and two sacks. Safety Travin Howard finished with five tackles, one interception, and a forced fumble.

Longview quarterback Dezmond Chumley completed 7 of 15 passes for 91 yards, including three passes to Texas-committed receiver Dorian Leonard for 38 yards. Tight end Jordan Whitaker caught two passes for 43 yards.

Both teams play next Saturday at Shreveport's Indpendence Stadium in the Battle On The Border. Marshall faces LSU-bound quarterback Brandon Harris and Bossier City Parkway at 5 p.m. before Longview plays perennial Mississippi power Olive Branch at 7:30.
