NEW CHAPEL HILL — In a rematch of the 2010 Class 3A Division I state championship game, the Henderson Lions got the best of Chapel Hill once again, taking a 24-6 decision Friday night at Bulldog Stadium.

Henderson quarterback Janson Moore passed for 165 yards and one touchdown, while running back Randy Davis accumulated 162 yards in the Henderson (3-2, 1-0) victory.

After Chapel Hill (1-4, 0-1) turned the ball over on downs with 6:14 remaining in the first half, Davis' 58-yard run helped set up Jamaal Kind's 8-yard touchdown run for a 7-0 Lions lead.

On the ensuing possession, Bulldogs quarterback Andrew Black was intercepted by J'Korrie Center. That set the stage for a 75-yard TD pass from Moore to Patrick "Monster" Brown, which put Henderson up 14-0 at halftime.

Chapel Hill's first drive of the second half ended disastrously when the Bulldogs' punt was blocked by Kenny McCowan and recovered at the Chapel Hill 28. A few plays later, Henderson went up 21-0 when Moore connected with Jordan Dickeson for an 8-yard TD.

Henderson added a field goal before Chapel Hill finally got on the board with 3:39 remaining on a 5-yard touchdown run by Wesley Thompson.

Black finished the night 8-of-16 for 57 yards and three interceptions. He added 126 yards on 11 attempts. Joseph Clark rushed for 77 yards on 10 carries.

Chapel Hill will visit the Gilmer Buckeyes next week, while Henderson is idle.
