One of the most sought-after offensive line recruits in the nation publicly announced his commitment on Twitter early Saturday afternoon.

Jasper’s Terrell Cuney announced that he committed to Texas while in Austin for the Longhorns’ spring football game. The Longhorns are one of three schools that have already offered the class of 2014 standout, joining TCU and Texas Tech.

Dozens of schools have shown interest in Cuney, who is rated by multiple recruiting sources as the No. 1 center in the 2014 class. Cuney’s commitment to Texas continues the Longhorns’ momentum on the offensive line, a position that Texas solidified with its 2013 signing class and remains a point of emphasis for the coaching staff in its recruiting efforts.

The 6-foot-3, 260-pound Cuney is the sixth East Texan in the 2014 class to commit. Texas A&M got fall commitments from Gilmer linebacker Josh Walker and Lufkin receiver Jamal Jeffery. Liberty-Eylau athlete Davion Hall committed to Baylor during a Feb. 2 junior day visit. Longview defensive tackle Zaycoven Henderson committed to TCU on Feb. 24, also during a junior day trip.

The other commitment is Hemphill’s Justin Twine, who holds a football offer from Baylor, but is committed to TCU for baseball.
