CARTHAGE -- JayDon Day had a big night on the mound and at the plate to lead Carthage to an 11-1 six-inning victory against Pleasant Grove on Monday.

Day pitched all six innings, striking out six and walking one to earn the victory, which pushed Carthage's record to 5-1. He hit 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and four RBIs to lead the Bulldogs at the plate as well.

Carthage hit three homers. Kolby Blissett was 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBIs, while Beaux Guilbeau was 2-for-3 with a solo bomb. Pleasant Grove, the defending Class 3A state champion, fell to 4-2 with the loss.

Carthage's Jack Morris hit a two-run, two-out, walk-off double to end the game in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to the 10-run rule. Tyler Musgrove went 2-for-3 with a double. Samuel Chhor went 2-for-3.

Carthage plays Tyler Lee on Thursday in the Oil Belt Classic in Kilgore.
