ROYSE CITY – The Pittsburg Pirates had to wait out a vicious weather delay, which included a tornado warning, but had no complaints.

Jaylon Jimmerson’s 3-yard touchdown run with 12 seconds remaining sent Pittsburg to a 34-28 win over Lorena in their Class 4A Division II regional semifinal Friday night at Royse City ISD Stadium.

Pittsburg (10-3) will face district foe and defending state champion Pleasant Grove (11-2) in the state quarterfinals next week.

Jimmerson accounted for five touchdowns on the night. He had a touchdown pass to Keithlen Griffin to give his team a 22-21 lead in the third quarter following the more-than-two-hour weather delay.

His touchdown run early in the fourth pushed Pittsburg’s lead to 28-21.
