John Tyler Holds Down No. 4 Spot in AP Poll; Kilgore Cracks Top 5 in 3A

The John Tyler Lions, fresh off a 35-30 victory over Class 5A Mesquite Horn, remained No. 4 in the latest Associated Press poll released on Monday.

John Tyler (3-1) has now won two straight, following its loss to No. 3 Lancaster earlier this month.

In Class 3A, the Kilgore Bulldogs' (3-0) 38-6 domination of previously unbeaten Mount Pleasant was enough to vault them three spots into a tie for No. 5. Carthage (3-1), which drilled Nacogdoches 44-21 on Friday, moved up one slot to No. 8.

Newton (3-0) and Tatum (3-0) stayed No.3 and 4, respectively, while New Boston (4-0) continued to climb up to No. 8 after the poll at No. 10 last week.

In Class A, Joaquin (4-0) jumped two spots to No. 5, while Pineland West Sabine (4-0) has entered the rankings at No. 9.
