On one side of Tyler is a vastly improved team that has two close losses in its first two games of the 2012 season. On the other is a team ranked No. 1 in the state until a heartbreaking upset loss last Friday night. But, two teams coming off losses couldn't make for a more interesting ETSN.fm + Dairy Queen Game of the Week.

Tyler Lee and John Tyler have faced off on the field at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium for more than 50 years, and they'll do it again at 7:30 p.m. Friday night with both teams seeking redemption early in the season.

And John Tyler, specifically, is looking for revenge from a loss Lee handed to it last year, which turned out to be the Red Raiders' only win of the season.

John Tyler, ranked No. 1 in the state in Class 4A for just seven days, was handed a shocking defeat last Friday night by Lancaster, a game in which the Lions had a final play on the goal line, but lost a fumble to end the game.

Tyler Lee enters the game 0-2, coming off a one-point loss to Sulphur Springs in Zero Week and a 41-31 defeat from rival Lufkin last Friday night. Lee kept the game within a touchdown until late in the game when the Panthers pulled away, largely thanks to three touchdown runs from LaQuintas Wallace.

This year's edition of the Rose City Rivalry, No. 25 on our list of the biggest games of 2012, looks to have JT as the favorite, but as last year's meeting suggested, favorites don't matter.

Lee's only win in 2011 was a 39-30 win over JT in this game, and the Red Raiders' running game was largely responsible.

JT holds a 29-26-1 lead all-time in the series.
