John Tyler cruised past Lindale for a 76-13 win Friday to up its District 16-5A record to 2-0.

It wouldn't have been as easy without Pierre Leonard. The Lions' junior nose guard turned in an outstanding night with two blocked punts, two tackles for loss, two sacks, one fumble recovery and two more tackles for six total.

No question about it. Leonard is the Queen Defensive Player of the Week.

Leonard (5-10, 245) has played in all five of the Lions' games and has 26 tackles. That's a very good number for a nose tackle. He is tied for the team lead in sacks with four alongside Jassavia Reese. Leonardo also ranks third in tackles for loss with four.

John Tyler (4-1, 2-0) will host Lufkin (3-2,1-1) Friday at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler. It is the Queen Game of the Week. Queen Defensive Players of the Week
