Tyus Bowser is a monster. We mean that in the best possible way.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound John Tyler defensive end has been an absolute pass-rushing terror during the past month. He continued his personal onslaught of opposing quarterbacks in the Lions' 38-10 second-round playoff rout of Wylie this past Friday.

Bowser had 10 tackles, a season-high seven sacks, and one forced fumble to lead JT's defense once again. For the second time in three weeks, the senior sackmaster is the ETSN.fm Dairy Queen Defensive Player of the Week.

Bowser has been on a tear of epic proportions that started Oct. 19 in Lindale, where he had five tackles and two sacks in the Lions' 35-0 win. Since that night, Bowser has exploded for 19 sacks in five games, including seven against Wylie and five in JT's District 16-4A championship-clinching win against Whitehouse on Nov. 9.

Bowser enters John Tyler's Class 4A Division I Region II semifinal against Frisco with an East Texas-leading 22 sacks. He also has 77 tackles, five forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. Bowser ranks third for JT in tackles and first in both fumble categories.

John Tyler (11-1) and Bowser, who holds offers from Memphis, Missouri, Texas Tech, ULL, West Virginia, and Wyoming, face Frisco (9-3) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Allen's Eagle Stadium, a first-year venue that seats 18,000 fans.
