Kacey Maines + Carthage Cruise to 14-1 Softball Win Over Longview

LONGVIEW -- The Carthage Lady Dawgs rolled to a 14-1 win over Longview on Tuesday night.

Kacey Maines belted a grand slam and drove in five runs to lead Carthage at the plate. Ashleigh Edge was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in the big win.

Carthage used two pitchers. Samantha Clakley got the start and allowed no earned runs on one hit with six strikeouts and one walk in three innings. Brooklyn Peace pitched the final two innings, allowing no earned runs on two hits with a strikeout.

The Lady Dawgs' season continues Friday at Pleasant Grove.

Pine Tree Edges Pleasant Grove

TEXARKANA -- The Pine Tree Lady Pirates earned a 6-5 win over Pleasant Grove on Tuesday.

Jon'Quil Fisher led the way for Pine Tree (3-5) by going 2-fo-4 with three RBIs, one run scored and a stolen base. Melanie Wilson (2-3) went 2-for-3 with a run scored and was the winning pitcher after a four-strikeout performance in the circle.

Na'Keyia Fisher had a hit and steal, Roshi Humphrey was 1-for-2 with a walk and Teyiana Thurmond had a hit and drove in a run.

BASEBALL

Tatum Topples Beckville

BECKVILLE -- The Tatum Eagles rolled to an 11-1 win over Beckville on Tuesday.

Brett Roberts went 3-for-4 with a double two RBis and was the winning pitcher, allowing just one hit with eight strikeouts and four walks in four innings. Sam Toon went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Kedrick Boyd had two hits and drove in a run to lead Tatum offensively.

Justin Danzer pitched one hitless inning of relief with three strikeouts.

Tatum's season continues this weekend at the Harmony Tournament. The Eagles face Quitman at 9 a.m. Thursday in the opener.
