DeMarvion Overshown hopped into a tie for the East Texas scholarship lead among junior football prospects Wednesday thanks to an offer from Kansas.

Arp's universal athlete now has six offers, the latest of which he reported to ETSN.fm through his personal Twitter account. The Jayhawks program's offer gives him three options within the Big 12 Conference and another three choices from schools outside the Power Five conference level.

Overshown (6-4, 196) is now tied with Marshall guard Chasen Hines in sheer college choices and is the third among a group of five players with NCAA Division I FBS offers to have at least three Big 12 schools in the portfolio.

Kansas is seeking its first East Texas commitment under head coach David Beaty, and it might get one before Overshown becomes eligible to sign in February of 2018. The program has its sights set on senior Texas High receiver Quan Hampton and is the only Power Five program recruiting him.

That being said, Hampton is currently committed to Texas State and has not backed away from his pledge since Kansas offered him more than a month ago.

Kansas went 2-10 this past season -- providing Beaty his first two wins of his two-year tenure thus far -- and earned its first Big 12 victory since 2014.

Jayhawks players can expect some continuity going forward. Beaty's contract was extended through 2021 and the coach was granted a raise by athletics director Sheahon Zenger in December.

Zenger said, according to reports surrounding the extension news, that he felt like the football program was making strides both on the field and in the recruiting sphere.

Overshown (6-4, 196) played a big role on an Arp team that reached the Class 3A Division II state semifinals in 2016.

He recorded four takeaways and more than 160 tackles in a 15-game campaign, which included a second-place finish in District 9-3A Division II and back-to-back mild upsets against Newton and Crockett in the playoffs to win Region III.

In addition to defense, Overshown spent time at receiver and caught four balls for 121 yards.
