TYLER — Senior Katrina Kastmo’s domination at the net powered the Tyler All Saints Lady Trojans past crosstown rival Tyler T.K. Gorman in three games, 25-16, 25-13, 25-11, Tuesday night at Brookshire Gymnasium.

Kastmo hammered down 17 kills to add to her five blocks and two digs for the Lady Trojans, while Madeline Wynne chipped in with three kills, four blocks and one dig.

“We definitely know that we let a lot of points get by us that we shouldn’t have in Game 1,” Kastmo said. “We know the game should’ve never been that close. We need to concentrate on serve-receive and defense because we know our front line is pretty strong, so that’s what we’ll need to work on this week to win our next game.”

T.K. Gorman got off to a quick 5-2 start in Game 1. Maddie Smith then served nine straight points for All Saints, including two aces, giving the victory to the Lady Trojans.

In Game 2, All Saints built a 19-8 lead before T.K. Gorman regained control of the ball. Danielle Smith took to the service line in hopes of keep the Lady Crusaders in the game, but a kill by Kastmo secured the win for the Lady Trojans.

In the final game of the evening, Smith dominated from the service line, recording 11 straight points for All Saints to extend its lead to 12-3. T.K. Gorman tried to battle back to stay in the game, but Lanna Johnson knocked down a kill to clinch the game and match for the Lady Trojans.

“I told our girls we had to play All Saints volleyball,” All Saints coach Bryan Winegeart said. “We were struggling a little bit in Game 1 and playing at a pace that was not us. We needed to play our volleyball, no matter what was going on on the other side of the net. We definitely need to work on our blocking and defense.

"Our next game is against Parish Episcopal and it’ll be for who gets second place in district and home court advantage for our playoff game, so defense is something critical for us to improve on.”

Johnson recorded five kills and one block, while Smith collected 25 assists to go with her one dig in the Lady Trojans victory.

Madeline Raney knocked down three kills to add to her two digs, and Susannah Williams chipped in with five blocks and one dig for the Lady Crusaders.
