FRANKLIN -- SMU running back commitment Kayce Medlock scored three times in the first half and Arp's defense did not allow a New Waverly point until the game's final 10 minutes toward a 49-6 win Friday in the second round of the Class 3A Division II playoffs.

Medlock scored twice in the opening half on the ground and then caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Steward for a 21-0 advantage late in the first half.

Demarvion Overshown returned a New Waverly (9-3) punt 44 yards for Arp's fourth consecutive touchdown of the game with no time left in the opening act.

The Tigers (10-2) added three more touchdowns in the second half.

New Waverly running back Roman Pray ended Arp's shutout bid in the second minute of the fourth quarter. Sandwiched between the Tigers' second and third scores of the second half, Pray got in from four yards.

Arp will face Crockett in the Region III semifinal round of the postseason next week. Crockett defeated Clifton, 35-0, elsewhere Friday.

A time, date and location between the surviving schools will be announced later this weekend.
