HUNTSVILLE -- Kendrick Mapp rushed for 207 yards and two touchdowns and Tyler Stubblefield threw three scores to lead Lufkin to a 35-20 win over Spring Dekaney at Sam Houston State University on Friday night.

The Panthers' Class 5A Division II bi-district win was their first playoff win since 2008 and it came against the defending state champions. Lufkin (8-3) next faces Pflugerville, which ended the historic run by five-time defending state champion Austin Lake Travis on Friday night, 23-20.

Stubblefield connected with Jabryce Taylor for two first-half touchdowns to help Lufkin take a 20-7 at the half. Mapp, who also caught a 59-yard touchdown pass from Stubblefield, sealed Lufkin's win with a 20-yard touchdown run with 2:44 left in the game.

Dekaney fought to get within eight Demarcus Felton's 2-yard touchdown run with 7:58 left in the game made it 28-20, Lufkin.

Mapp also scored on a 5-yard run late in the first quarter to give Lufkin an early 13-0 lead.

Stubblefield finished 18 of 30 passing for 322 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Taylor caught six passes for 59 yards and Mapp had two catches for 74 yards.

Felton finished with 185 yards on 26 carries for Dekaney.
