Huge implications in the District 12-5A championship race surround Friday night's matchup between Mesquite Horn and Longview.

And for that reason, the showdown at Lobo Stadium is the ETSN.fm/Dairy Queen Game of the Week.

Longview (5-1, 2-0) can take firm control of the district-title chase with a victory, while the Jaguars (6-1, 2-1) can jump back into contention after suffering a stunning loss last week.

The Lobos have won five consecutive games since a 32-24 season-opening loss to Coppell -- the latest a 42-10 rout at Rockwall-Heath. Standout junior running back JaMycal Hasty ran for three touchdowns and senior safety/return specialist Travin Howard took a punt back for a score in the blowout win.

Horn saw its undefeated season came to an end at the hands of Mesquite last Friday night, 31-17. Longview crushed Mesquite 69-17 in its district opener on Sept. 27.

Longview is led by Hasty, who has run for 841 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season. The Lobos are currently ranked second in the district in total offense at 398.7 yards per game, while their defense is also No. 2 in 12-5A, allowing 267.2 yards each week.

Horn, led by senior quarterback and Rice commit Destri White, is fourth in 12-5A in both total offense and total defense. White has thrown for 1,462 yards and 17 touchdowns, while rushing for 408 and four scores.

We’ll be live from the game with KLTV to bring you the preview at 6 p.m.
