There were hardly any changes this week among East Texas teams ranked in the Associated Press high school football poll.

Lufkin (3-3) was the only team to drop from the rankings after the Panthers' 26-24 loss to John Tyler (5-1), which remained at No. 5, last Friday night. Lufkin is still receiving votes in the 5A poll, as is Longview (4-2).

There was one minor change in the 4A poll, as Gladewater (5-1) and Atlanta (6-0) exchanged spots in the top 10. Atlanta moved up to No. 9 following a 48-7 rout of Pleasant Grove, while Gladewater slipped to No. 10 despite a 52-8 blowout of Tatum. Atlanta hosts Gladewater this Friday in a pivotal clash in District 6-4A Division II.

Two other East Texas teams are ranked in the 4A top 10 -- Gilmer (6-0), which remained third following a 63-0 domination of Melissa, and Van (6-0), which rallied for a 35-32 victory over Athens last week.

In Class 3A, Corrigan-Camden (6-0) held steady at No. 4 after a 66-48 defeat of Crockett, Malakoff (6-0) held onto the No. 8 position following a 47-28 win over previously unbeaten Palestine Westwood, and Waskom (6-0) remained at No. 9 after its 34-24 victory over Arp.

Newton (3-3) is receiving votes in the 3A poll.

Alto (5-0) moved up one spot in the 2A poll to No. 8 after its 59-0 shutout of Grapeland last Friday night. The Yellow Jackets also received one first-place vote. Tenaha (4-1) is receiving votes.
