District champion Marshall claimed all but one of the superlative honors on the 14-4A all-district boys basketball team, as voted by the league's coaches.

Marshall junior Chris Brown was named Player of the Year, while senior Garren Jernigan received Offensive Player of the Year honors. Sophomore Jayton McKnight was named Newcomer of the Year.

Bobby Carson, who led the Mavericks to a 25-9 record and Class 4A Region II first-round playoff appearance, was named Coach of the Year after helping Marshall win the 14-4A crown.

The only other superlative -- Defensive Player of the Year -- went to Mount Pleasant senior Montravious James.

Hallsville and Texas each had three players named to the all-district first team, followed by Mount Pleasant and Pine Tree with two apiece.
