VAN -- With last year's graduation of Caleb Carr, the White Oak Roughnecks were looking for a go-to guy.

They may have found one in Levi Yancy.

The 6-foot-7 senior scored 20 points and added 26 rebounds and four blocks to lead the Roughnecks to an 84-81 double-overtime win over the Stephenville Yellowjackets in the championship game of the DQ Van Invitational on Saturday night.

White Oak (7-0) point guard Kris Anderson nailed a 3-pointer with 27 seconds left in regulation to tie it at 66, then hit two clutch free throws in the first overtime to tie it at 75, helping extend the tournament final for another stanza.

The second OT started with a Yancy spin move on the block that he converted into a three-point play, then Skylar Sutton nailed a jump shot from the wing to give the Roughnecks their biggest lead of the game, 80-75.

Two plays later, Yancy took a dish from Skylar Sutton, and emphatically crammed it with two hands, virtually sealing the Invitational victory.

"First of all, I thought (Stephenville) was kicking our butt, just playing a lot harder," said White oak coach Ron Boyett. "I thought they were playing real well, give them credit. In the second half, I thought Yancy played with some attitude. I thought he was the best player on the court. The whole second half and two overtimes, I thought we just played so much harder. Every possession, we competed."

Stephenville (3-2) jumped on White Oak early, starting the game on a 19-8 run. Grayson Sweet's 3-pointer ended the first quarter for the Yellowjackets, up 24-14.

White Oak stayed close, thanks to Slade Sutton. He had eight first-quarter points and started the second with back-to-back 3-pointers.

Stephenville guard Arbnor Kelmendi hit consecutive buckets at the 4:52 mark and pushed the Yellowjackets advantage to 33-26. When Stephenville's Juder Stidham grabbed an offensive board and finished a putback, its lead swelled to 39-29 right before halftime.

White Oak's Anderson hit a jumper with under a minute remaining, which gave Stephenville the 39-31 lead going into halftime. Kelmendi finished with a game-high 25 points and five rebounds, while Stidham added 23 points and nine boards.

White Oak opened the second half with Slade Sutton burying another 3-pointer, assisted by older brother Skylar, and 6-4 junior Hayden Nichols nailed four free throws to narrow the margin, 41-36. But, like most of the night, Stephenville answered. Kelmendi's drive and finish at the hoop pushed the Yellowjackets' advantage to 43-36.

Slade Sutton totaled 18 points, while Nichols added eight rebounds. Anderson chipped in 11 points and seven assists.

After a Yancy layup brought White Oak to within four, 44-40, the Yellowjackets reeled off five straight points with Will Holland converting a three-point play at the 3:14 mark. Kelmendi scored six straight to end the third quarter, which gave Stephenville the 57-49 lead heading into the fourth.

White Oak started the fourth when Yancy tattoed the basketball off the glass for a blocked shot that started a fast break, and when Skylar Sutton hit a 24-foot 3-pointer off an assist from Nichols, the Roughnecks were within two, 59-57.

Stidham nailed a jump shot off a pick-in-roll at the 3:19 mark, giving Stephenville a 60-54 lead heading down the stretch.

"The thing about our kids, we've had some success, and once we get the lead, they think we're going to win," said Boyett. "They've been there enough to believe, its going to go our way.'

White Oak hosts Bullard Brook Hill at home on Tuesday, then plays in the Spring Hill tournament starting Thursday.
