Liberty-Eylau senior defensive back Andre Wiley Jr. became the 15th player in East Texas' 2016 recruiting class to offer up a verbal commitment to a Division I FBS program.

Wiley (5-9, 170) announced via Twitter his pledge to Navy on Friday while on an official visit to the Annapolis, Md., campus. He chose the Midshipmen over five other FBS options -- Arkansas State, Army, Louisiana Tech, Texas State, and Wyoming.

One of the most physical defenders in all of East Texas, Wiley figures to be a nice addition to a Navy squad coming off a successful 2015 season.

Navy, which is under the direction of seventh-year head coach Ken Niumatalolo, finished 11-2 last season with a berth in the American Athletic Conference championship game.

After a 52-31 loss to Houston in the conference title game, Navy rebounded with a 21-17 win over arch-rival Army before defeating Pittsburg, 44-28, in Military Bowl on Dec. 28.

Despite having to re-locate to the East Coast, Wiley will have plenty of opportunities to return to his home state over the course of his college career. Navy shares the AAC with SMU and Houston.

Wiley concluded his high school career with a stellar senior season, helping Liberty-Eylau go 12-2 and reach the Class 4A Division I state quarterfinals for the second consecutive year.

Verbal commitments are non-binding. Wiley, like all 2016 prospects, can make it official with the college of their choice by signing their national letter of intent on Feb. 3.
