Liberty-Eylau 2017 defensive end LaGaryonn Carson is beginning to become a household name in the world of college football recruiting.

In less than a week's time, the Leopards' pass rusher has picked up five major Division I FBS offers, including Baylor, which offered Carson on Tuesday, according to the Liberty-Eylau coaching staff.

Carson, who measured in at 6-3, 261 at Sunday's ETSN.fm + APEC Football Recruiting Combine on Sunday, now has scholarship opportunities from Alabama, Baylor, Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M.

He also told ETSN.fm on Sunday that he expects to hear from Oklahoma, TCU, and LSU very soon.

Baylor has been very active in East Texas under head coach Art Briles of late. The Bears signed three regional prospects in 2014 -- receivers KD Cannon (Mount Pleasant) and Davion Hall (Liberty-Eylau), and defensive end Greg Roberts (Nacogdoches).

Just last February, Baylor inked Longview running back JaMycal Hasty, Gilmer receiver Blake Lynch, and Arp defensive end Tyrone Hunt.

Baylor, which has won back-to-back Big 12 championships, was 11-2 last season in its first year playing at McLane Stadium. The Bears' campaign ended with a 42-41 loss to Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 1.

Liberty-Eylau appears poised for a solid 2015 season, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Carson is the second player on the current Leopards’ roster with college football offers. Rising senior linebacker Andre Wiley Jr. is committed to Arkansas State. Meanwhile, 2016 QB/ATH Ke'Mon Freeman has received interest from a handful of schools.

Liberty-Eylau fell a field goal shy of eliminating Argyle in the Class 4A Division I, Region II championship game. Argyle went on to the state championship game and lost in double overtime to Navasota.

The Leopards will kick off the season season Aug. 28 against Gilmer.
