One of East Texas' top female athletes offered up her college commitment on Thursday.

Lindale's Zhanelle Geathers announced her decision to play volleyball at UT-Arlington via her Twiiter account Thursday afternoon.

Geathers (6-2), one of the top hitters in the area, has been the driving force behind Lindale's back-to-back District 16-4A championships. She is a two-time all-district selection and was an all-state performer a season ago. Geathers helped lead Lindale to the area round of the Class 4A playoffs this fall.

The Lindale star is also a standout on the basketball court where she was a Texas Association of Basketball Coaches all-region performer after averaging more than 15 points and seven rebounds per game as a junior.

Geathers, who also has a volleyball offer from Central Arkansas, joins Carthage's Iesha Bryant (Tennessee) as Division I-bound volleyball players from East Texas.
