There was very little movement among East Texas schools in the latest Associated Press high school football rankings, which were released Monday.

The only change occurred in Class 2A as Newton dropped from the top spot to No. 2 after its 22-20 win over Kountze last Friday. Defending 2A Division II champion East Bernard is the new No. 1.

Tatum (7-0) remained at No. 4 after its 35-21 road win at Troup last week, while Hughes Springs (7-0) is still No. 10 after a 47-0 shutout of Linden-Kildare. Corrigan-Camden, Garrison, Waskom, Daingerfield, Malakoff and New Boston all received votes.

Whitehouse (7-0), which defeated Jacksonville 70-21 last week, remained at No. 3 in the 4A poll.

Gilmer (7-0), which was off last week, is still the No. 1-ranked team in 3A. Kilgore (6-0), a 24-6 winner over Gladewater, is still ranked third. Carthage (7-1) remained at No. 7 after a 55-3 defeat of Center.

In 1A, Tenaha (6-1) remained at No. 3 after its 41-7 win over district rival Mount Enterprise, and West Sabine (6-0) stayed at No. 8 after a 28-10 win over Alto.

Longview (6-1) received a vote in the 5A poll after a convincing 49-30 win over Mesquite Horn last week.
