Longview Receiver Dorian Leonard Snags Fifth Offer

As expected, the recruitment of Longview junior Dorian Leonard is picking up serious steam.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound receiver got his fifth offer Saturday as Texas joined the fray. The Longhorns offer comes five days after Leonard received an offer from Oregon State.

Leonard's offer list now includes Florida State, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Texas, and Texas Tech. Texas offering Leonard is no surprise, especially after Lobo coach John King said "Texas is all over him" in a March 20 report.

Leonard had 21 catches for 444 yards and four touchdowns in 2012, when Longview went 9-4 with a Class 5A Division II Region II semifinal appearance.

Leonard is expected to be Longview’s top receiver in 2013, when he'll join at least two other big targets -- junior Jordan Whitaker (6-4, 190) and sophomore Antonio Carter (6-5, 200) -- for sophomore quarterback Dezmond Chumley.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Chumley, who was pressed into starting duties following a season-ending knee injury to ULM-bound starter Bivins Caraway, threw for 1,188 yards, 14 touchdowns, and four interceptions while completing 56.6 percent of his passes.
