LONGVIEW – Longview opened with a touchdown and rolled from there en route to a wire-to-wire homecoming victory over the John Tyler Lions here Friday night at Lobo Stadium.
Behind a balanced attack, Longview jumped ahead 14-0, led 21-6 and moved to 3-0 on the young season with a 41-13 win over John Tyler.
Jessie Anderson scored a pair on the ground, matching a two-touchdown night from Haynes King, who passed for 230 yards for the Lobos.
Anderson finished with 49 rushing yards with scoring romps of two and 24 yards. Keilyn Williams led all rushers with 132 yards on the ground with a 25-yard touchdown.
King’s scoring tosses went to Kamden Perry for 39 yards and to Jhailon Braden on a 21-yard strike. Kaden Meredith closed out scoring with a 26-yard run in the final stanza.
For John Tyler, Frankie Sanchez had field goals of 40 and 41 yards. Roderick Hawkins, who tallied 89 yards had a six-yards touchdown, the only six-point play for the Lions.
Quarterback Delven Woods amassed 198 yards through the air, targeting Keandre Street for 101 yards on four haul ins. Cameron Grant scampered for 58 yards on nine carries for the Lions, who fall to 1-2 on the year.
Anderson plowed for a 2-yard score and Braden hauled in a King pass for a quick 14-0 lead.
Sanchez’ boots came around King’s touchdown pass to Perry for a 21-6 advantage for the Lobos at intermission.
Longview upped that lead to 27-6 on Anderson’s second score.
Hawkins got John Tyler in the endzone late in the third quarter on a 5-yard run.
Longview closed out the win with two fourth-quarter touchdowns.
