Longview’s DeMarkus Lathan Reschedules Tarleton State Visit
Longview's DeMarkus Lathan has rescheduled one of his two college visits set for the next two weekends.
The 5-foot-9, 190-pound linebacker has moved his Tarleton State visit from this weekend to Feb. 2. He said that Hallsville safety/linebacker Cayden Ferrill is also expected to visit Tarleton State that same weekend.
Lathan, who was the consensus Class 5A Defensive Player of the Year as a junior, racked up 138 tackles, 11 for loss, two sacks, one fumble recovery, eight pass breakups, and one kick block. Lathan was one of three Lobos to collect a team-leading 138 tackles, joining senior linebacker Torean Sheppard and senior safety Corey Bartley.
Lathan was an honorable mention selection to the Associated Press Class 5A all-state team this season. He helped Longview finish the 2012 season with a 9-4 record and a Class 5A Division II Region II semifinal appearance.
In the regular season, Ferrill led Hallsville with 77 tackles, including 18 for loss and two sacks. The 5-foot-9, 195-pounder also forced five fumbles and recovered another.
Tarleton State is an NCAA Division II program competing in the Lone Star Conference. MSSU is also a Division II school and plays in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
