Longview senior linebacker DeMarkus Lathan is ready to hit the road for two college visits during January, he told ETSN.fm on Friday evening.

The veteran Lobo linebacker will visit Tarleton State on Jan. 19, then take a trip to Missouri Southern State the following weekend of Jan. 26. Lathan said he expects to be offered during both visits and could make plans for more visits this month.

Lathan, a 5-foot-9, 190-pounder, collected 138 tackles during his senior season, which saw the Lobos finish 9-4 with a Class 5A Division II Region II semifinal appearance. Lathan joined fellow seniors Corey Bartley and Torean Sheppard for the team lead in tackles. He also had 11 tackles for loss, two sacks, one fumble recovery, eight pass breakups, and one kick block.

Tarleton State is an NCAA Division II program competing in the Lone Star Conference. MSSU is also a Division II school and plays in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

Lathan was an honorable mention selection to the Associated Press Class 5A all-state team this season. As a junior, Lathan was the consensus 5A Defensive Player of the Year by the AP and Texas Sports Writers Association.
