Longview’s Haynes King Offered By Southern Miss
The fourth and fifth Division I FBS scholarship offers have arrived for Longview 2020 quarterback Haynes King.
The Longview News-Journal reported that King (6-2, 170) has been offered by Southern Miss and Texas State.
The Lobos' signal-caller was previously offered by Houston, Louisiana Tech, and Louisiana-Monroe.
Last season, King's first at quarterback, he passed for 2,106 yards with 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He did not take over the Lobos' starting job until Week 5 of the regular season.
As a starter, King helped Longview reel off 10 consecutive victories en route to a 13-2 record and the program's first appearance in the state semifinals since 2010.
Southern Miss competes in the Conference USA. The Golden Eagles finished 2017 with a record of 8-5, losing in the Independence Bowl to Florida State.
Texas State competes in the Sun Belt Conference and finished 2017 with a 2-10 record.
King, like all sophomores, is first eligible to sign with any school that offers him beginning in December of 2019.
