Jalen Carr has a penchant for putting himself in position to ruin quarterbacks' games.

Carr, a senior at Longview, has six interceptions this season to ran among the top five defensive backs in East Texas in that category. He earned another Friday against John Tyler. However, it wasn't his only contribution to the game.

He also had seven tackles, one for loss, a sack and two blocked kicks in a 28-19 victory against the Lions. He was a big part of a defensive effort that allowed the Lobos to win. For that, he is the ETSN.fm + Dairy Queen Defensive Player of the Week for Week 9.

He follows Newton's Corbin Foster, who won the award in Week 8.

As the regular season is nearing its end, the Lobos have just two games left. At 7-1 and 4-1 in district play, they have already clinched a playoff spot. They will play a home game against Rockwall-Heath at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
