Longview's win over Monroe (La.) Neville in Shreveport was a tale of two halves.

The Lobos' offense cruised in the first frame on the way to a 19-0 lead, but it picked up just three first downs and failed to score in the second half. Head coach John King was lucky to have junior defensive end Kybrin Sheridan leading the way in an impressive defensive showing.

Sheridan (6-0, 197) is the ETSN.fm + Dairy Queen Defensive Player of the Week.

With 11 takedowns, including three tackles for loss and two sacks, Sheridan helped Longview (1-2) do just enough to keep Neville, which missed two mid-range field goals and a PAT, from completing a comeback in a 19-13 victory -- the Lobos' first win of 2014.

Sheridan's squad should now have some momentum with the win over one of Louisiana's top programs. It will have a full week to reflect on the game.

The Lobos will be idle this week and begin District 15-5A play Sept. 26 at Pine Tree.
