Looking Ahead to the 2015 + 2016 East Texas Football Recruiting Classes

Tevin Pipkin (top) and Cade Clinton (52) congratulate Marquise Guinn on his six-yard first-quarter touchdown catch during Carthage’s 34-23 Class 3A Division I state championship win over Kilgore on Dec. 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Guinn is expected to be one of East Texas’ top recruits in the 2016 class. (Christopher Vinn, ETSN.fm)

The 2014 East Texas football class is huge.

Last week’s National Signing Day saw players across the region ink with schools all the way from Division I FBS level to D-II, D-III, JUCO, and NAIA programs. For a full breakdown of the region’s football signees, click this link.

But there’s no doubt that the strength and depth at the top were as great as East Texas has seen in recent memory. The 2014 class included 32 Division I FBS signees, 15 more than the region produced in 2013.

Is that a trend? It’s too early to tell. But there’s no doubt that the 2015 and 2016 classes are already well-known in college recruiters’ circles with numerous 2015 targets holding FBS offers and several 2016 prospects already garnering high-major attention.

The following are two lists of some of the players to keep an eye on during the next couple of classes that East Texas will produce. These lists do not include all prospects in the next two East Texas classes, but should give you a good idea of who to watch for at this early stage in the process.
