Louisiana Tech Offers Whitehouse Junior Nate Brooks

The second Division I FBS offer arrived Friday evening for Whitehouse's Nate Brooks.

The junior cornerback received an offer from Louisiana Tech, according to Whitehouse head coach Adam Cook. ETSN.fm intern Jonathan Barker first learned of the offer.

Louisiana Tech joins North Texas as the two programs to have offered the athletic Brooks, who started at cornerback as a sophomore on Whitehouse's 10-2 squad in 2012. The Mean Green offered Brooks on June 15.

Brooks competed at the May 19 ETSN.fm Football Recruiting Combine at APEC training facility in Tyler. His laser-timed 40-yard dash clocked in at 4.69 seconds, while he posted an impressive vertical jump of 37.8 inches and a strong broad jump of 9 feet, 10 1/2 inches. He had the No. 1 ladder time (9.75 seconds) among 16 defensive backs at the event, as well as the fifth-best pro agility (4.25 seconds) at his position. The ladder time tied with Big Sandy quarterback/receiver for the third-best among the event's 100 participants.

The 6-foot, 150-pound Brooks will be 1 of 3 returning starters in Whitehouse’s secondary. He joins 2015 safety Justin Dunning, who holds six FBS offers, and 2014 cornerback Isaiah Burton in the Wildcats’ defensive backfield. The only graduating secondary starter is safety Colby Campbell, a Lamar signee.

Brooks is 1 of 4 Whitehouse players with at least one Division I FBS offer, joining Dunning, 2014 quarterback Patrick Mahomes (committed to Texas Tech), and 2014 linebacker Reggie Long.
