LUFKIN — Despite three touchdowns from Tyler Lee star running back LaQuintas Wallace, Lufkin held on for a 41-31 win over the Red Raiders on Friday night at Abe Martin Stadium, which had its field named after late coach John Outlaw before the game.

Wallace scored on runs of 70, 7 and 2 yards for the Red Raiders (0-2), who face crosstown rival John Tyler next week.

A 38-yard field goal gave Lufkin a 24-21 lead at halftime before the Panthers pulled away in the second half. The Panthers jumped out to a 21-7 lead in the first quarter, highlighted by a pair of 4-yard touchdown runs by Tyler Stubblefield and Kendrick Mapp.

Tyler Lee kicker Lumi Kaba kicked a 54-yard field goal to give the Red Raiders three more points as time expired.
