Lufkin 2016 defensive end/outside linebacker Bronson "Boom" Massie received an offer from SFA, the Panthers' standout tweeted Wednesday afternoon.

That gives Massie (6-3, 210) a Division I FCS offer to go with his four FBS offers -- California, Colorado State, Louisiana Tech, and Texas State.

SFA, located in nearby Nacogdoches, competes in the Southland Conference and is coming off a postseason berth under head coach Clint Conque. The Lumberjacks were 8-5 overall and 5-3 in league play in 2014, dropping a 44-10 decision to Northern Iowa in the first round of the FCS playoffs.

Massie is one of a handful of FBS-caliber prospects for Lufkin. Along with the pass-rushing specialist, the Panthers also have 2016 offensive lineman Jerrod Johnson, and 2017 athletes Kordell Rogers and Dhailon Phillips.

As a junior, Massie finished with 88 tackles (18 for loss) with 11 sacks and six forced fumbles, earning third-team honors on the ETSN.fm East Texas Football Super Team.

Massie recently competed at the third annual ETSN.fm + APEC Football Recruiting Combine in Tyler, where he was one of 113 of the East Texas' top prospects in attendance.

He clocked at laser-timed 4.92-second 40-yard dash -- fastest among the 11 defensive linemen at the event. Massie also tied for the highest maximum vertical jump among his position group at 10 feet, 11 inches.

Lufkin must replace the production of three FBS signees off last year's team -- receivers Keke Coutee (Texas Tech) and Terry Mark (Houston), and offensive lineman Erik McCoy (Texas A&M).

The Panthers were 6-5 last season, finishing with a heartbreaking 43-42 loss to rival Longview in the first round of the Class 5A Division I playoffs. Lufkin will open the 2015 season Aug. 28 at Longview.
