Lufkin’s Erik McCoy Picks Up Offer from Louisiana-Lafayette

Lufkin 2015 offensive lineman Erik McCoy picked up his second offer this week and fourth overall when the Ragin’ Cajuns of Louisiana-Lafayette offered the Panthers standout, McCoy announced on Twitter on Wednesday evening.

McCoy (6-4, 297) is expected to receive even more recruiting attention in the coming days and weeks after he took home OL MVP honors last Sunday at the Nike Football Training Combine event in Houston. He was extended an offer by Oklahoma State on Monday.

ULL became the 46th unique Division I FBS program to offer an East Texas recruit in the 2015 class. The Ragin’ Cajuns compete in the Sun Belt Conference and went 9-4 overall and 5-2 in conference play in 2013, defeating Tulane 24-21 in the New Orleans Bowl last December.

McCoy will be part of a talented and experienced Lufkin offense this season, which also includes standout receivers Key’Vantanie “KeKe” Coutee and Terry Mark, quarterback Trey Cumbie and running back Steven Sowell. The Panthers went 5-6 in 2013.
