One of the best running backs in all of East Texas picked up two new Division I scholarship offers over the weekend.

Lufkin senior Isaiah Phillips reported via Twitter that he received offers from both Abilene Christian and Stephen F. Austin.

Phillips (5-9, 190) also has Division I opportunities form Louisiana-Monroe and Northwestern State.

Phillips was the most consistent player on the Lufkin offense in 2017. The running back finished the year with 1,972 yards and 27 touchdowns in helping the Panthers to an 11-3 season that ended in the Class 6A Division II Region II finals.

Abilene Christian and SFA are both FCS schools that compete in the Southland Conference.

ACU, which was 2-9 in 2017, is coached by Adam Dorrel. The Lumberjacks finished 4-7 last year and are coached by Clint Conque.

Phillips, like all seniors, can officially sign with any program that offers him on Feb. 7.
