Lufkin’s Ja’Lynn Polk Offered By Arkansas
The second Division I FBS scholarship offer arrived Wednesday for Lufkin 2020 wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk.
The Panthers' playmaker reported via Twitter that Arkansas has offered.
Polk (6-2, 170) was previously offered by Illinois.
Last season, Polk finished with 40 receptions for 667 yards and six touchdowns. Lufkin finished 11-3 in 2017, reaching the Class 6A Division II state quarterfinals.
The Panthers, who are dropping down to 5A for the upcoming season, currently has six players with Division I offers -- DE Breylon Garcia (Nevada commit), DT Carl Williams (Arkansas), DE Javasia Brunson, and CB Damond McKelvey in the 2019 class, along with S Jerrin Thompson, and Polk in 2020.
Arkansas has become extremely active in recruiting East Texas in recent months. The Razorbacks have already secured three area commitments from the 2019 class, and have eight offers out to local players in 2020.
Chad Morris, an East Texas native and former SMU coach, is entering his first season at the helm in Arkansas. He brought with him an assistant coach that also has ties to East Texas in Jeff Traylor, who won three state championships as head coach at Gilmer from 2000-14.
Arkansas was 4-8 overall and 1-7 in SEC play in 2017.
Polk, like all incoming juniors, is first eligible to sign with any program that offers him in December of 2019.
