MALAKOFF -- The Tigers didn't let this huge lead slip away.

Malakoff, a Class 3A Division I team, obliterated Bullard from Class 4A Division I by a score of 46-7 Friday at Tiger Stadium. It owned a 40-0 lead at halftime and just barely took its foot off the gas in the second half despite pulling some of its most valuable players.

Receiver and defensive back Q.T. Barker led a well-rounded scoring sheet. He scored twice in the contest.

After Jaquaylon Hart ran in a 46-yard score, Barker took an interception 102 yards for a 12-0 lead. Malakoff (1-0) failed to convert its first three two-point conversion attempts before giving kicker Everardo Garcia a successful chance.

Quarterback Judd Miller fed Barker on a 32-yard touchdown pass moments later, and the lead moved to 18-0.

Breshawn Williams scored from 30 yards and Miller and running back Zee Bailey rolled in for 4-yard touchdowns on the ground before the first half mercifully ended for Bullard (0-1).

Williams scored from 60 yards in the second half.

Bullard quarterback Cleet Bowman connected with Will McCowin to open and close the Panthers' scoring, which cut the deficit down to 40-7 momentarily.

Malakoff travels to Rusk next Friday. Bullard will also be in action and hosts Groesbeck.
