McNeese State took a couple of shots Wednesday.

The Cowboys offers Darwin Barlow and Tamauzia Brown, standouts at Newton.

Barlow and Brown are among the most heavily recruited prospects in East Texas, with 37 offers between them.

Barlow starred in the backfield, racking up 2,246 yards rushing and an area-leading 38 rushing touchdowns. Brown was a standout at both receiver and cornerback. He led the Eagles with 867 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. He also led East Texas with 12 interceptions.

Newton went undefeated en route to the 3A D-II state championship in December.

McNeese State competes in the Southland Conference of the NCAA's FCS subdivision. The Cowboys finished 9-2 in 2017.

Barlow and Brown, like all juniors, can first sign with any team that offers them beginning in December.
