Memphis Gives Canton’s Samuel Miller Second Offer In As Many Days

It appears the hunt for Canton defensive end Samuel Miller is just getting started. The Eagles' 2015 prospect announced an offer from Memphis -- his second in two days -- via Twitter on Wednesday night.

Miller (6-3, 220) now has three total Division I FBS offers, receiving his first invitation on March 29 from UTSA and picking up offer No. 2 from Nevada on Tuesday.

Memphis, which competes in the American Athletic Conference, is the 54th unique FBS program to offer East Texas' 22-member 2015 recruiting class. The Tigers were 3-9 overall last season and 1-7 in conference play.

Miller's frame, strength and quickness as an edge-rusher make him an attractive prospect at the next level. He's recently had visits from Arkansas, Baylor and Texas A&M during the spring evaluation period, and more offers could be on the horizon with the summer satellite camp season kicking off in less than a month.

Miller had a productive junior season for Canton, finishing 2013 with 89 tackles, 26 of the tackles for loss, as well as four sacks and three forced fumbles.

Despite an 0-4 start to last season, Canton won four of its next five and reached the postseason for the third time in four years. The Eagles will compete in District 5-4A Division II this fall along with Bullard, Emory Rains, Gilmer, Melissa and Nevada Community.
