MESQUITE -- Mesquite Horn scored 42 straight points in the second and third quarters and cruised to a 63-35 win against Tyler Lee at Hanby Stadium in Mesquite.

The loss relegated the Red Raiders (2-4, 0-3) to the cellar of District 11-6A alongside Mesquite, which simultaneously lost to John Tyler at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.

Horn (4-2, 2-1) joined a four-team tie for second place in the league. Longview, ahead of that pack, is the only team still undefeated within district play.

Quarterback Chris Robinson led Horn with four touchdowns as part of a 14 for 18 night for 254 yards under center. Running back Elton Taylor also scored four times for the winning side toward 80 yards while Cornell Caldwell broke 100 rushing yards.

Running back Ladarius Wickware guided Lee's offense with two touchdowns and 158 yards. Quarterback Chance Amie also scored twice on his way to 80 yards on the ground versus 63 through the air.

The Red Raiders led 21-14 on Wickware's second touchdown with 10:49 remaining before halftime.

Both teams will be idle next week.

Lee will try to bounce back Oct. 14 against Mesquite.
