TYLER -- Seth McGowan is regarded as one of the top running backs in the country.

McGowan looked every bit the part on Friday night as he rushed for 236 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries, leading Mesquite Poteet to a 46-21 victory over Tyler Lee Friday at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.

McGowan is a four-star running back by 247sports.com with more than 20 offers, including Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia.

After Lee (1-3) dominated the first quarter with two touchdown runs by Jordan Printers to take a 14-0 lead, McGowan got the Pirates on the board with a 2-yard run just more than a minute into the second quarter.

A 2-yard touchdown run from Dalton Dale and a 67-yard fumble return for a touchdown from Jalen Hodo put Mesquite Poteet up 20-14 at halftime.

Cam Lampkin — a three-star recruit with offers from Arkansas State, Bowling Green, Colorado, Colorado State and Lamar — was held to just one catch for 5 yards, but he returned the opening kickoff of the second half 99 yards to the house, and McGowan busted loose for touchdown runs of 30 and 75 yards in the third quarter to stretch the Mesquite Poteet lead to 39-14.

Lee rushed for 363 yards on 76 attempts. Printers had 211 yards and two touchdowns on 37 carries, and Jamar Arceneaux added 112 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries.

Red Raider quarterback Mark Patton threw the ball eight times and completed four passes — all in the first half — for 23 yards.

Dale was 4-for-7 for 75 yards and a 10-yard touchdown pass to Devon Martin. Sean Soyers competed his only pass attempt for 53 yards to Hector Ortiz.

Tyle Lee will open District 11-6A play next week with Rockwall-Heath at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Tyler.
