ELYSIAN FIELDS -- Hughes Springs running back Michael Martinez rushed for 220 yards and two touchdowns to keep the Mustangs undefeated in a 55-14 win over Elysian Fields on Friday night.

Hughes Springs (8-0, 5-0), ranked 10th in the state in Class 2A, took sole possession of first place in District 9-2A Division II. Elysian Fields, the only district team to score a touchdown on the Mustangs this year, dropped to 5-3 on the season and 4-1 in district.

Quarterback Trevor Spear was Elysian Fields' lone bright spot on offense, throwing for 157 yards and two touchdowns, one to Christian Smith and the other to Nathan Hall.

Hughes Springs led 34-7 at halftime.
