Texas High's offense should be fun to watch this season, especially the connection between quarterback Cade Pearson and receiver Quan Hampton. Both players have enjoyed college attention this month.

Pearson picked up a new scholarship opportunity Friday from Missouri State. He announced the news through his personal Twitter account and now has seven Division I FCS offers in addition to two FBS choices from North Texas and Wyoming.

The Bears program, under second-year coach Dave Steckel, also has a standing offer out for Tatum linebacker D'Torian Smith.

Pearson (6-2, 193) is preparing for his third and final season as Texas High’s starter under center. He has guided the school to a 15-7 overall record, including two Class 5A Division I bi-district round playoff appearances and a shared District 15-5A title with Longview and Marshall last year.

The quarterback produced nearly identical numbers as a sophomore and as a junior. He posted a two-to-one touchdowns to interceptions ratio and threw for a little more than 1,600 yards in both seasons.

Missouri State competes in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, which is also home to five-time defending FCS national champion North Dakota State. Northern Iowa, Illinois State, Indiana State and Youngstown State are other historically strong programs that call the conference home.

Missouri Valley competition has been rough on the Bears program in recent years, highlighted by last season's 1-10 record.

Steckel will try to deliver the Springfield, Mo., campus its first winning season since 2009 this fall.

Pearson, like all high school football prospects entering their senior year, will become eligible to sign with any program that offers him in February.
