NACOGDOCHES -- The Lindale Eagles scored a pair of unearned runs in the top of the ninth inning to secure a 3-1 win over Nacogdoches in District 16-5A baseball action Monday night.

The win improved Lindale to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in league play.

The Lindale pitching duo of starter Nash Walters and reliever Laettner Greenhill combined to allow just one hit over the nine innings.

Walters, a Texas A&M signee, aloowed the hit and the Dragons' only run, striking out nine and walking two in six innings. Greenhill came on and was dominant with six K's in three hitless innings.

The two-man pitching performance of Nacogdoches' Hunter McClellan and Sam LeBlanc was nearly as controlling. McClellan started and surrendered one run on three hits with seven strikeouts and two walks in six innings, while LeBlanc struck out three and waked two in his three innings of work.

Lindale returns to the diamond next Tuesday at Whitehouse, while Nacogdoches (2-3 in 16-5A) plays host to Whitehouse on Thursday.

 

Van Remains Perfect In District

VAN -- The Van Vandals stayed unbeaten in District 14-4A with a 7-2 victory over Emory Rains on Monday.

Garin Shelton (5-0) shined on the mound for Van (11-2-1, 5-0), allowing no earned runs with nine strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Robbie Davis finished the game to register the save.

Jacob Tobias continued his hot streak by going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a run, and a stolen base. Christian Cole and Cooper Bledsoe went 2-for-3 as well. Cole also had two steals and run scored, while Bledsoe had a RBI, run scored, and stole two bases.

Van's season resumes Friday as it entertains Canton.

 

SOFTBALL

Bullard Blows Past Gilmer

GILMER -- The Bullard Lady Panthers coasted to a 14-2 win over Gilmer on Monday night in District 16-4A action.

Ashleigh Gillard and Kyndel Clayton led the way. Gillard was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Clayton went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and was the winning pitcher.

Bullard plays at Chapel Hill on Friday, while Gilmer is at Gladewater on Thursday.
