EUSTACE -- The Van Lady Vandals began the postseason with a 25-8, 25-6, 25-18 sweep of Athens in their Class 4A Region II bi-district volleyball playoff Monday night.

Bri Thompson led Van (32-9) with 13 kills, 13 digs and six aces. Hallee Carter added seven kills, seven digs and a pair of aces, M'Kenna Daniel finished with 22 assists, five digs, three kills and three aces, and Alli Lloyd chipped in with 10 digs and three aces.

Van will play the winner of Tuesday's match between Paris and Gilmer later this week in the area round.

 

Carthage Sweeps Past Center

CARTHAGE -- The Carthage Lady Dawgs opened the playoffs with an easy 25-6, 25-12, 25-6 sweep of Center in their Class 4A Region III bi-district match Monday night.

Marisah Ingram led the way for Carthage with eight kills. Allie Capps (six aces) and Faith Landreneaux had six kills apiece, Kamry Smith added five kills, Kenize Templeton dished out 23 assists, and Kaitlyn Nutt registered six digs.

Carthage will face either Fairfield or Gatesville later this week in the area round of the playoffs.

 

Henderson Too Much For Jasper

LUFKIN -- The Henderson Lady Lions cruised to a 25-11, 25-11, 25-10 sweep of Jasper on Monday night in their Class 4A Region III bi-district playoff.

Codie Whitehead paced Henderson with 13 kills and three blocks. Morgan Weaver added eight kills, Nakia McElhanon had five kills and five blocks, and Tori Self assisted on 25 points.

Henderson's postseason resumes later this week against either Groesbeck or China Spring in the area round.
