Monday Volleyball: Beckville + Carlisle Move Past First Round

LONGVIEW -- Beckville wasted no time in a sweep of Hawkins on Monday.

The Ladycats defeated the Lady Hawks 25-2, 25-5 and 25-12.

Jordan Tondreau led the team with 10 kills and Payton Jones added seven to go with four aces. Kinley Pepper led in assists and 17 and Miranda Mize finished with four blocks.

Beckville moves to the area round where it will play the winner of Tuesday's match between Cumby and Detroit. Should Cumby win, the game will be played at 6 p.m. Thursday in Lindal. If Detroit wins, it will be 7 p.m. Thursday in Hughes Springs.

Carlisle takes out Union Grove to advance to area round

LONGVIEW -- Carlisle defeated Union Grove in four sets, 3-1 on Monday evening to advance to the area round. The Lady Indians won the first, third and fourth sets, 25-20, 25-16 and 25-10. They lost the second, 25-12.

Heather Craig led Carlisle with 13 kills and four aces. Emily Pendleton added six kills while Tori Esters added 21 assists and Jennifer Elias had five aces.

The Lady Indians advance to face either Clarksville or North Hopkins on Thursday.
