SAN ANTONIO -- The Mount Vernon Lady Tigers advanced to their first-ever girls state basketball championship game with a 46-37 win over Brock in their Class 3A semifinal Thursday afternoon at the Alamodome.

Mount Vernon (26-9) will meet Marlin (32-8) at 10 a.m. Saturday for the title.

The Lady Tigers took control of the game in the second quarter, in which it outscored Brock 20-6.

Mount Vernon was also 50 percent from the field, including 8-of-15 from the 3-point line.

Annie Coffey and Alissa Hill led the way for Mount Vernon with 14 points apiece. Coffey knocked down 4-of-5 shots from beyond the arc, while Hill pulled down a team-high six rebounds.

Brock (32-6) was led in defeat by Emilee Popeck, who scored 10 points.
