AUSTIN -- Two East Texas boys golfers finished strong performances at the UIL Class 4A state tournament Tuesday.

Nacogdoches' Collin Frizzell tied for second place with Humble Summer Creek's Connor Black after shooting a second-round 68 to finish 2-under-par at Onion Creek Club Golf Course. Hallsville's Devin Jackson fired a 69 on Tuesday to finish tied for fourth with Huntsville's Chandler Phillips with a 1-under-par 139 two-day total.

Pine Tree's Bryce Alley, a UTSA signee, had a strong second round as well. Alley had a five-stroke improvement from Monday to Tuesday, shooting a second-round 69 to finish in a four-way tie for 10th with a 143. Alley's second round helped him move from a four-way tie at 23rd into the top 10.

Highland Park's Scottie Scheffler won the 72-player tournament with a 71-64--135.

In girls competition, Texas High's Emma Edwards finished with scores of 78-78--156 for an 8-over-par score and four-way tie for 17th. Teammate Camryn Parsons had an 85-85--170 and placed in a three-way tie for 41st. Texas High's Hannah Brantley (90-88--178) and Madeline Hunley (93-93--186) were 53rd and 59th, respectively. Kamie Westbrook (106-104--210) was 68th.
